THE NEWS
Welcome Journey Child
The Droogies have a new singer. We had the pleasure of purchasing him from Sir Alfonso Prescott on The Indian Circus Trade a couple of months ago. Sir Alfonz was having a special blowout sale on naked zombies. I mean who would pass that kinda of deal up? This "singer" not only proved to be a hardworking naked zombiebot, but an excellent vocalist as well. We bring you.....Martin
Thanks a lot for coming to our website. Sorry it hasn't been up in a while. Anyway, The Droogies are a three-piece indie/jazz/surf/rock (whatever you want to call it) band from Durham, NC.
So far we have one eight song "EP" which we recorded last Christmas. You can download it in The Music section or buy it for $5 in The Goods section of the website.
We've been a band for a little over a year now. Back in the day, we all used to play in a band called Slippery Chicken together but then kind of parted ways musically to form two other bands, Buglite and Human Pudding. Big props to Will, Carson, Jon, David and John for helping make that music possible.
About two years later, the three of us decided to start a new band. After watching and reading A Clockwork Orange we decided to name our band The Droogies. Since then, we have been practicing and performing as much as possible.
We plan to live in NYC for the summer of 2003. Stephen received an internship at Blue Note Records somehow so we're moving up there with him. We are sharing two rooms at NYU where we will practice all the damn time and try and get as many shows as we can. It'll be challenging as hell but a good experience for all of us. We're all really psyched. Anyone who wants stay with us for a week or two is definitely welcome.
In other news, recording starts on November 22nd for our second seven-song EP thingamajiggy. We might call it Milk Plus BoBerry Biscuits for lack of a better name. Chan of the ever-popular Bahn's Vietnamese Cuisine on Ninth Street in Durham will be the man behind the mixing board. It'll be all the new songs you've come to love over the years.
Aite, on to the band members; we have Stephen Coffman, 18, on the drums. We have Duncan Webster, 19, on the bass guitar and baritone guitar. And we have Joe Hall, 19, on the guitar and the baritone guitar. We all sing a little, but not a lot. Our influences range from Faraquet to They Might Be Giants to The Pixies to Outkast to Biz Markie to Burning Airlines to The Clash to pretty much anything that's good. That's all the news for now. If you want us to play a show or a party or just want to be down with us, then send an email to one or all of the following addresses. Word up, thanks a lot!
